On the 6th of May, I took part took part in the Luxury and Fashion Marketing Event. Since I am an article writer at Uduni, I was invited by one of its co-founders, who happens to be the president of the Marketing Club of Nova School of Business and Economics.
The main goal was to intensity the awareness and instruct the event’s attendees about the importance of the fields of Luxury and Fashion in the Portuguese market.
So, the Marketing Club asked managers, entrepreneurs, teachers, bloggers, personal shoppers and students out and sent everybody back to a classroom with a blackboard and chalks (seriously, I mean it! ahaha)
Since I was not on holidays yet, I could only be present at the event during the afternoon. So I skipped the following presentations that seemed (from the pictures and feedback I got) very absorbing:
L’OREAL MAKE UP SESSION AND A LANCÔME PRODUCT PRESENTATION
DRESS TO IMPRESS BY ISABEL COSTA
She is a Portuguese Fashion expert with 20 years of experience in this branch. Started as a model and nowadays she is a luxury goods buyer. Meanwhile, she exploited personal stylist and personal shopper as profession and she has been successful in what she does, because (as far as I know) she is one of the bests! Check her website here.
CHIC BY CHOICE
Lara Videiro, co-founder of Chic by Choice
Chic by Choice is a Portuguese start-up which consists on an online platform that allows women to access the most stunning and magnificent designer dresses straight from the catwalks at an accessible price for a limited period of time.
Chic by Choice is present at more than 15 European countries offering a range of labels that includes more than 40 designers.
O PURISTA BARBIERE
At the first looks the barber shop seems very traditional, but actually is the perfect place to hang out at the end of the day, while the men take care of their beard! It can sound a little odd the fact that I am saying this, but the space is not exclusively a barber shop, there you can also find a billiard table, play or taste the amazing Affligem beer at the bar, while reading the newspaper or listening to some music. That was what I did!

HOW TO BE A SUCCESSFUL BLOGGER?
During the afternoon, when I was already present, I had the opportunity of listening and meet Sofia Novais de Paula (The Diary of a Lipstick), José Cabral (J. Lisbon) and Ana Gomes (Barbie's Best Friend), who spoke about their successful experiences on the blogosphere.
They were very caring giving clear and detailed information about the relevant life and career challenges as bloggers and online workers.
Sofia Novais de Paula
Me very concentrated on the left.
GLOBAL SHOPPER IN PORTUGAL: HOW TO INCREASE THE LUXURY CONSUMPTION OF THE INTERNATIONAL VISITORS (TOURISTS) IN PORTUGAL?
From the left to the right: Olivier Rasch; Gustavo Duarte; Catherine da Silveira and Nuno Gama.
The last session counted on Olivier Rasch, the Luxury Manager of L’Oréal Portugal; Catherine da Silveira, currently Luxury and Fashion Marketing lecturer at Nova SBE and a consultant of luxury brands, but previously the Country Manager of L’Oréal Paris; Gustavo Duarte one of the co-founders of the Chiado Palace (that I strongly recommend you to visit) and Nuno Gama, one of my favourite Portuguese designers.
The last meeting was definitely my favourite, because you could ask directly to people and outstanding brands the ways and means they are dealing with the globalization of the fashion and luxury industry, especially in the Portuguese market, where the majority of the luxury good buys are international. Portugal is facing at the moment the challenge of attracting more foreign customers to our shops!
The event was fully in English and absolutely worth to attend! Next time I hope to see you there!
