When you are a full-time master’s student like me, there isn’t much time left for you to get properly ready to a fashion event or an opening. My life lately is described as: being on the go all the time!

Many people ask me: how can I manage to be at university in one moment and in the other be at an opening in the city centre. The answer is simple: I am always prepared! How? Keep reading!

Quando se é um aluno de mestrado, a tempo inteiro, como eu, não sobra muito tempo para nos prepararmos, adequadamente, para um evento de moda ou uma inauguração. A minha vida ultimamente descreve-se pela expressão: sempre a correr!

Imensas pessoas perguntam-me sobre como consigo estar na universidade num momento, e no momento imediatamente a seguir, estar num evento, no centro da cidade. A resposta é simples: estou sempre pronta! Como? Continuem a ler!

How to get prepared?

First, do your homework! Keep yourself up to date, not only with the latest fashion news, but also with the event. Fashion magazines are a great source of information!

I recommend you to search the maximum possible about the organisers, they might be potential and useful assets for you and your projects. Always greet them at the beginning of the event and thank them for inviting you. Such action will make them feel appreciated and reinforce your interest in taking part in these occasions.

Most important, don’t forget to research about the brand that is throwing the event, remember that if it wasn’t for that brand, there would be no reason to make a gathering.

Como estar preparad@?

Primeiro: fazendo o trabalho de casa! É importante estar-se informado, não apenas sobre as últimas novidades no mundo na moda, mas também sobre a ocasião.

As minhas recomendações: pesquisar o máximo possível sobre a organização, esta pode ser uma mais-valia para e um potencial contacto pessoal e/ou profissional. É fundamental cumprimentar sempre os organizadores à chegada e agradecer-lhes o convite, esta atitude vai não só fazer-lhes sentirem-se apreciados, como também demonstrar o nosso interesse em fazermos parte deste tipo de ocasiões.

Igualmente essencial (senão mais importante) é pesquisar informação sobre a marca que está a ser representada. Se não fosse a mesma, não haveria necessidade em se realizar tal evento.

Second: If during the day you won’t have time to change your clothes or do your make up, do it beforehand and prepare a little kit for ‘retouches’ or ‘improvements’ (if you know what I mean 😄).

Segundo: se durante o dia não houver tempo para mudança de roupa ou colocar maquilhagem, o melhor é tratar-se destes assuntos com antecedência, tal como preparar um pequeno kit para ‘retoques’ ou ‘melhoramentos’ (se é que me entendem 😄).

Third: It is mandatory to have a good camera or a phone with an outstanding one to help you collect all the sparks and glamour of the venue you are going to. If you are only taking a phone with you, remember that the battery does not last forever, especially if you are an owner of an iPhone like me! We all struggle with our fast dying batteries! As an alternative you should consider to take with you a light but stylist power bank. Trust me, power banks are the ultimate rescuers!

Terceiro: é obrigatório transportar connosco uma câmara com boa qualidade ou então um telemóvel igualmente excelente, para que possamos capturar todo o brilho e glamour do espaço para onde vamos. Se a opção eleita for o telemóvel, atenção! A bateria não dura para sempre, especialmente quando se tem um iPhone! A melhor alternativa será incluir uma powerback leve e estilosa neste pack de primeiros socorros!

Last but not least important: how to carry all of these and still go to a sophisticated event?! One shoulder bags and clutches are always an option (for the ladies), but not when you have a considerable amount of items to carry with you! It is true that backpacks are into fashion again, but still it might seem sloppy if you don’t choose the right design. My recommendation is: be minimalistic, only take with you what is needed and also choose the right style of the bag, which does not compromise the rest of your look.

Por último, mas não menos importante: como transportar todos estes itens e ainda assim irmos para um evento sofisticado?!

As malas de apenas uma alça ou uma clutch são sempre boas escolhas (para as senhoras), mas não quando se tem uma quantidade considerável de acessórios e ‘ferramentas’, para levar connosco! É verdade que as mochilas voltaram a estar na moda, no entanto não podemos deixar que a escolha do design errado nos dê um ar descuidado. A minha recomendação é: ser-se minimalista, apenas levar connosco o essencial, como também escolher um estilo de mala correto, que não comprometa o resto do look.
