On the 10th of June, in Portugal was celebrated the “Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas” (in English: day of Portugal and its communities and day of Camões). During the celebration sessions, the Portuguese designers: Carlos Gil, Felipe Oliveira Baptista and Nuno Baltazar were decorated by the Infante D. Henrique’s Order. It was an official tribute to the national fashion and the three designers deserved their Order of Merit due to their mesmerizing works developed nationally and internationally. A 10 de Junho, em Portugal celebrou-se o Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas. Durante a Sessão Solene Comemorativa, os designers portugueses: Carlos Gil, Felipe Oliveira e Nuno Baltazar foram condecorados com a ordem do Infante D. Henrique. Num tributo à moda nacional, as Ordens de Mérito foram merecidas pelos três artistas, não apenas pelos seus trabalhos deslumbrantes desenvolvidos a nível nacional, como também internacional.

Carlos Gil studied Fashion Design in Portugal to achieve his dream of giving structure to all forms of beauty and creatinge impactful pieces replete of quality and elegance. Today he is an unavoidable icon of Portuguese fashion design. He had exhibited his collections in Lisbon Fashion Week (ModaLisboa) and Portugal Fashion. Carlos Gil formou-se em Design de Moda em Portugal para dar forma ao seu sonho de perseguir a beleza de todas as formas e criar peças impactantes, onde a qualidade e a elegância são prioridades. Hoje é já uma figura incontornável do design de moda em Portugal, apresentando as suas coleções na ModaLisboa e no Portugal Fashion.

FELIPE OLIVEIRA BAPTISTA

Graduated in Kingston’s University, winner of Hyeres Festival and two times winner of ANDAM award. In 2005, Felipe Oliveira Baptista was invited to take part in Haute Couture Calendar. Since 2009, he has exhibited his collections “ready to wear” at Paris Fashion Week.  And since 2010 until now Felipe is the creative director of Lacoste. Formado pela Universidade de Kingston, vencedor do Festival Hyeres e, por duas vezes, do prémio ANDAM, Felipe Oliveira Baptista (40 anos) foi convidado para fazer parte do calendário dos desfiles de Alta Costura em 2005. Desde 2009, tem vindo a apresentar as suas coleções “ready to wear” na Semana da Moda de Paris. A partir de 2010 e até à atualidade é o diretor criativo da marca Lacoste.

NUNO BALTAZAR

Graduated in Fashion Design at Citex, Porto. In 1996, won the award of Young Designer of the Year in the contest New Blood (Sangue Novo) and in Porto Fashion, in 1997. He was as well detached as winner of the Young Designer of the Year, in the same years, in Maxima Magazine. In 1999, he started making regular presentations of his collections, taking part in the biannual calendar of ModaLisboa, Portugal Fashion and Paris Fashion Week.  Formado em design de moda pelo Citex no Porto, obtém em 1996  o prémio de Melhor Jovem Designer no concurso Sangue Novo e no Porto Moda em 1997. Destaca-se também como vencedor em 1996 e 1997 do concurso Jovens Criadores da revista Máxima. Em 1999 inicia as apresentações regulares das suas coleções, integrando o calendário semestral de apresentações da Modalisboa, Portugal Fashion e Paris Fashion Week. On Friday, the sixth of March it was celebrated Lacoste's new store at Avenida da Liberdade. We cheered not only with champagne and cocktails, but also with great music and company. But it wasn't all. We were celebrating another step of the empire created by René Lacoste (Le Crocodile) and André Gillier.  As you have noticed I am interested in brands with story and Lacoste is another example of it. The tennis player, René Lacoste was nicknamed "Le Crocodile" because of a bet over an alligator skin suitcase and his brand was named after it. Isn't it curious and funny? Na sexta-feira, dia 6 de Março celebrou-se a abertuda da nova Loja Lacoste, na Avenida da Liberdade. Celebrámos não apenas com champanhe e cocktails, como também com música e companhia fantástica. Esta foi a celebração de mais um passo do impérico criado por René Lacoste ("Le Crocodile") e André Grillier. Como já devem ter reparado, eu interesso-me por marcas com história e a Lacoste é um exemplo. Ao tenista, René Lacoste foi dada a alcunha de "Le Crocodile", por causa de uma aposta que valia uma pasta em pele de crocodilo. Essa aposta deu o nome não unicamente  ao tenista, como também à sua marca. Este facto é curioso e engraçado, certo?
